Studies have identified the primary years as the period when students form their interests in STEM identities and careers. Science teaching at Moat Farm aims to give all children a strong understanding of the world around them whilst acquiring specific skills and knowledge to help them to think scientifically, to gain an understanding of scientific processes and also an understanding of the uses and implications of Science, today and for the future.

Throughout our school, we aim to promote a continuous process of thinking and working, where children will have the opportunity to discover, explore and investigate a variety of issues. We put a lot of emphasis on the children being taught practical investigation skills that support teaching of key scientific concepts. This also allows students to practise cross-curricular maths and writing skills
