Year 5 Roman Day
As part of our topic ‘The Romans’, a Roman centurion soldier visited us! We were transported back to the Roman era where we discovered many fascinating facts about Roman life: how Britain was divided into separate tribes who all fought against each other, how and why the Romans came to Britain, what the soldiers wore and what the Romans brought to Britain.
As part of our workshop, we had the opportunity to handle Roman artefacts and learnt about how the highly-skilled Romans trained and organised themselves in battle- we even became a group of Roman soldiers complete with shields and swords!
